Um, *No*

Ringwald Mulls 'Sixteen Candles' Sequel

I can only think of two ways they would write it. Either
they got married after college and now, 20 years later, they're having
problems, or they went their separate ways and run into each other now,
after 20 years. I don't want to imagine them ever having any problems.
Ever. It's supposed to be happily ever after, like a fairy tale. The end.

I've never seen the original. Or Pretty in Pink. Or Footloose.

I was SO sheltered. Seriously.

Finally saw Dirty Dancing, after I was married, I think. Didn't see Star Wars until I was in college.

This strict upbringing allowed for a limited viewing of movies, which I was able to memorize b/c of the frequence of viewing. These titles included the Sound of Music, Princess Bride, and Clue (of course). As well as the Fugitive and the Anne of Green Gables series.

What I don't understand is how Clue managed to get on your list. I didn't see Sixteen Candles until we visited an aunt in Memphis one day, and she rented it. It would never have gone on the parent-approved list (nor would Pretty in Pink). Saw Footloose in college.

Dad rented Clue, watched part of it, and denied it parental approval. We had to watch it on the sly.

I guess they thought that since it was based on a board game, how bad could it be? I'm just SO thankful that we didn't have to watch it on the sly.

I guess I had pretty liberal parents, because we had the video of "Sixteen Candles" and my sisters and I watched it non-stop. Such a great movie.

I agree that I don't want the couple to have problems -- but I think your first idea works. They didn't really know each other when they got together in the movie, so it would make sense that maybe Jake went off to college and they lost touch.

You haven't seen Sixteen Candles?????? It has one of my all-time favorite lines:
"No, he's not retarded!"

That and "where is my automobile?" which rr and I say every time we can't find the car in a parking lot.

And Pretty in Pink: Andrew McCarthy. That's all I need to say.

I remember seeing a small portion of it at my friend Kim's house, but it wasn't very much. I also saw the Poseidon Adventure over there too, which was scary, but intriguing. We even listened to The Police and other "secular" music.

Why would anyone make a sequel to an already fabulous movie? it'd ruin it.. I agree...

maybe it will be a fairy tale. maybe it will show them twenty years later, still all googly-eyed and in love, raising their children to be googly-eyed kiddos. and then they'll wear spandex and save the world from the impending evil man, or astroid, whichever comes first.

it could work.

Um, you're right, Jes. It could work. Yeah.

Thanks for stopping by, Tovah! And thanks for agreeing with me about the movie. It *is* a fabulous movie. :)
