Incident report, 6/30/05

Not a bad day, klutz-wise. The blisters are healing up nicely.

1. Banged elbow on corner of dresser.
2. Got toner on right leg of jeans while cleaning toner catridge at work.
3. Got chocolate all over left leg of jeans and on the passenger seat of JLR's car (again)

On a side note, the oven just made an intersting "thud" noise. Is it supposed to do that?

The ovens must be on strike because ours suddenly started acting up. No thuds, but it started cooking everything at 5,000 degrees, no matter what temperature we set it at. I tried to bake some blondies and they were black within five minutes (and the smoke alarm was going off).

Ovens don't like the summer months, and they try really hard to convince you not to use them.
Bonding time for ovens is January.

Oh, Kim, that's so sad about the blondies. It's upsetting to think that you're going to get a nice little treat, and then that stupid oven messes things up! If it makes you feel any better (and it probably won't), we finally bought an oven thermometer, which confirmed that our oven heats up 50-75 degrees past what the oven says it is.

Lia: does your oven work in January? I don't usually trust mine at any time of the year, but maybe I'll try it next winter.

kim--
we are very familiar with the burning problem. We even have a system for preventing the smoke alarm from going off (it involves one of us standing by the oven and fanning furiously with a cookie sheet).
Last night when I was trying to bake something, I had it set somewhere in the 300s, and when I checked the thermometer, it was about 500 degrees in there.
